I first fell in love with the violin when I was around five or six years old. I remember seeing one on television and being completely mesmerised by it, the way it looked, the sound it made, everything about it. So when my school announced they were looking for students to start violin lessons, I knew I wanted to play. We were told to stand up if we were interested so our names could be taken down. I stood up. Unfortunately, I was standing behind a much taller classmate and somehow my name was missed...
Everyone else started lessons except me and I was devastated. I eventually found the courage to ask my mum if she could speak to the school, and thankfully, she did. Soon after, I had my first violin: a tiny school-rental violin, and that was that. I played it constantly, morning and night, before and after school. I was obsessed.
I still remember those early lessons, all of us squeezed into a tiny music room learning how to rosin our bows and keep them straight. Every week, I would turn up excited to show my teacher the songs I had memorised off by heart.
I was born in Rockhampton and grew up in Mount Isa before moving to Chinchilla in 2012. Music quickly became a part of my new life there. I was the only violinist at my school and was given opportunities to perform and represent my school through programs including the State Honours Ensemble Program at the Queensland Conservatorium in Brisbane.
I was also incredibly lucky to learn from a number of wonderful musicians over the years, including musicians from the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Camerata, as well as through the State Honours programs. All of these experiences brought different perspectives to my playing and helped shape my musicality.
When I moved to Chinchilla, I was extremely lucky to reconnect with my second violin teacher from Mount Isa, who had moved to Chinchilla the year before I did. She was the only violin teacher in town, so I was very lucky to have someone who already knew me and my playing there.
By the time I was in my final year of high school, I had started thinking that I might study music after graduation. But when it came time to audition, I backed out. I had started questioning whether I was good enough, and whether a life in classical music was really for me.
After high school, life got busy. I started working full-time and, like so many things we love, music had to compete with the pressures and busyness of everyday life. But I always knew I wanted it in my life somehow.
Eventually, I reached a point where I decided to put a little faith in myself and see what might happen if I gave music another chance... (8 years later). That decision led me to where I am today, playing the violin for weddings and events and getting to share something I've loved for most of my life.
I believe that there are no rules about what music you should or shouldn't choose on your big day. Whether it's a timeless love song, a favourite pop song, something completely unexpected, or a special surprise for your partner, I want the music to feel like you.
Alongside my work as a musician, I bring a calm and thoughtful approach to every event. My background in executive support has taught me to be organised, detail-oriented and good at anticipating what people need. I naturally tend to read the room and stay calm when things get chaotic, which has translated surprisingly well into weddings. I work closely with couples and vendors to make sure everything runs smoothly, so you can stay present and enjoy your day.
My couples are trusting me with an incredibly important part of their day, and I want the experience to feel seamless. The biggest compliment I could receive is simply hearing that they didn't have to worry about a thing.
I love that this work brings together everything I value: music, good people, creativity and the opportunity to make someone's day that little bit more special.
